From pickup to the drive home.
Pickup & briefing
We collect you from your Ruka or Kuusamo hotel in the early evening, provide warm thermal outerwear and boots, and brief you on the night's forecast and plan.
The hunt
Rather than sit in one spot, we drive to wherever the sky is darkest and clearest — sometimes nearby, sometimes further out. Small groups (max 8) mean a personal, flexible evening.
The wait, made cosy
At a good dark spot we light a campfire and serve hot drinks while we watch. Guides explain what to look for and help you photograph the aurora with your own camera or phone.
Timing & return
Tours usually run 3–4 hours, timed around magnetic midnight when activity peaks. If clouds close in, we move. Then it's a warm drive back to your hotel. See our aurora tours.
